Building wealth and life experience

From my own expe­ri­ence, earn­ing mon­ey is only part of the bat­tle. Not spend­ing what you earn, and turn­ing it into sus­tain­able wealth is the oth­er part. Possibly the hard­er part.

In my book, I talk about my own jour­ney. Having earned a lot before I was 30, I had to learn “what next?”. Without being dri­ven by career suc­cess, how does one approach bal­anc­ing ambi­tion, lifestyle, and per­son­al growth?

I have been com­plet­ing the final book edits, so reread­ing a lot of my book. I tru­ly enjoy the mem­oir part of my book as much as the teach­ing part (and hope you do too!). This was all on my mind when I came across an arti­cle this morn­ing: ‘art is not in mak­ing mon­ey, but in keep­ing it’.

It’s easy to look at oth­ers incomes and imag­ine earn­ing a lot would solve prob­lems. The real­i­ty is, if you’re not care­ful, increas­ing your income only increas­es your oblig­a­tions. You end up con­tin­u­al­ly chas­ing some future instead of being able to slow down and enjoy the present.
